The Center of Islamic Education Matuzici (CIOM) located in Doboj, Bosnia Herzegovina will provide the facilities for elementary school students to attend Islamic classes. With the building of CIOM, the quality of Islamic teaching will be improved significantly in Matuzici and it would be the first of its kind in wider region.

The design intent is to have a centralized courtyard in between the existing Mosque and the Tahfiz and Kindergarten Centre. This is to create a conducive and comfortable environment for learning, as well as to enhance the children’s spiritual and mental development. The building form takes into consideration minimalist architecture through its simple design and use of local materials, seemingly blending with nature and the local culture. The use of white for the facade is to complement the theme of the existing mosque, as well as to explore the theme of purity; enriching the spiritual quality and experience of the school.

In its entirety, the building maximizes the use of local materials, techniques and craftsmanship. This in turn creates a familiar environment for the young generation of Bosnia to learn and grow.

The front façade of the TKC symbolizes the Islamic culture in Bosnia through the use of ‘Shahada’ kufi panels, reflecting the elegance and simplicity in design of the school entrance.
